Welcome

The Drop-in is a very special place. You the informal caregiver, home childcare provider, and parent drop-in to talk, chat and also learn skills which encourage quality care of young children while your children play. The staff are present to help out in any we can with other childcare issues and services. Your volunteer services will be greatly appreciated to make this a pleasant place to be.

The Toy Library can be accessed with a membership. You would have access to over 500 toys which may be borrowed for a maximum of two weeks. The hours of the library are the same as the Drop-in Schedule.

Workshops on various topics related to child raising and caring are offered in the evenings. Watch for postings in the Centre and also though our "Write to the Point" bulletin which is mailed quarterly.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

We request that if you attend the Drop-In in the mornings, (9:00-11:00 session) that you attend only once a week. You may attend a second morning after 9:45 if space is available. Caregivers may attend Caregiver Morning and or one other morning. We are now serving 150 families on a drop-in basis and would like everyone to have a turn. At this time, there are no restrictions as to the number of visits in the noon hour session, the afternoon session or the evening sessions.

HEALTH POLICY

We request that you only attend the centre when you and your child(ren) is/are healthy. Please do not attend with communicable diseases, ie. Chicken pox or with severe colds ( discoloured discharge from the nose) or fever. This is to help maintain a healthy environment for all.

2.For SAFETY REASONS, all parents and caregivers must sign in and sign out, for yourself and the children in your care..
3.It is important to WATCH your child(ren) and to have fun.
4.TOY MANAGEMENT:
Help your children pick up and replace toys to marked containers after they have finished playing with them. (Tidy as they play idea.)
Please remind walking children to stay out of the infant area when the babies are sleeping.
Remember to pile blocks no higher than the child's chin. (Blocks hurt when they fall on you.)
Try to keep the toys in their own area. Encourage your child(ren) to put the toys away so that the next person will be able to find them.
5.Please make sure that your hot drink has a lid on the mug. If you must put it down, make sure that the young ones can not reach it.
6.Please read the notice board in various areas of the playroom, KEEP INFORMED. Become a VOLUNTEER and remember, this is your centre and it needs you.
